- Your domain name is your business name: Get your name right the first time because it is hard to change, and so is critical you really describe your full business.

Optimizing your website: Try to include your keyword or key phrase within your domain name. This helps position you better in the search engines and make your website easy to find.

Registering your domain name:

- Make a list of domain names: Get a list of five or even ten different names to use for your domain name. You'll find that some of your ideas are already taken, so you should have a number of choices with your keywords in use.

- Go to a domain register and get your domain name registered. You can use .com or .net or .org as the suffix. And here are some terms you need to know: o Nameserver: This is your host's server. Your website will then be published to the web for the entire world to see. o Whois contact info on your website. You can make it private or you can have it for everyone to see. When making it public, everyone can access it, so don't put too much personal information.

Some important things to remember:

o You will find an option for registering your domain name for 1-5 years. Try to register for 2 or even 5 years, if you can, as this will make your business more credible in Google's eyes and you will attain a better Page Rank.

o It is best to lock your domain name so that nobody can transfer it to another service or otherwise tamper with it.
