Hawaii Cruise: How To Make It Work

by Ellen Gentry

The Hawaiian archipelago's eight primary islands make up one of America's most scenic states. The Island of Hawaii is larger than the other seven (Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and Maui) and is thus often called the Big Island. Each of the islands has its own unique history and culture. A Hawaii cruise is the best way to explore all of these islands, because there is nothing like the view from a boat to help you see these tropical marvels.

If you're looking to see as many of the Hawaiian Islands as possible, a Hawaii cruise may be a very good option for you. Hawaiian cruises vary in length, from seven to twelve days. Many of the cruises depart of different ports of call. Some leave from the capital of Hawaii, Honolulu. Others cruise ships leave from various cities in California, the Baja peninsula of Mexico including Ensenada, Sydney, Australia and Vancouver, Canada.

Your luxury cruise to Hawaii will have excellent dining and beautiful views of the ocean. For guests who want to relax, catch a movie, visit a theatrical production, or just rest in the ships lounge. Guests who are more active may want to use the fitness center, try their luck in the casino, or dance in one of the ships clubs. Top your day off with a spa treatment. For the children, they can be entertained for the day. This leaves you free to meet other adults, or just relax with your spouse.

Hawaii has a wide variety of ecosystems. These will include beautiful beaches on one side of an island to lush forests on the other, not to mention active volcanoes. Hawaii has a vast array of activities that awaits you. You may attend a luau, or swim and snorkel. Many people enjoy the Hawaiian cruises because of their luxury. Picture yourself on a warm beach as the sun sets, or swimming in cool pools of water beneath waterfalls.

Plan on casual attire when you are packing for your trip. Temperatures are almost always between 60 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, but the evenings can be a little cool if you haven't planned for them, especially if you're out on the water, so bring a light jacket. Also pack sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen to protect you from the sun and the rays reflecting off of the water. Obviously, your bathing suits need to be packed as well, since you'll have a lot of chances to use them.

When seeking out Hawaii cruise packages, remember that you are looking for a way to enjoy one of the world's most beautiful places at an affordable price. Just imaging the lush green fauna, the blue waves crashing over clean white sands, and seeing animals and plants that you've never had a chance to see up close. Call your travel agent or look online for package discounts currently available, and prepare for a wonderful trip.
