Common Work from Home Scams
Thousands of people are looking for ways to make money from home. Maybe you've even run across what sounds like a great work-at-home opportunity. It's a great option when you can get it. It lets single parents stay home to take care of their kids, and it lets people get a little extra cash so they can buy gifts for the holidays. But you want to protect yourself and make sure this is a legitimate opportunity, not yet another one of those work from home scams.
There are people who will use whatever means they can to take your money. They don't care a bit about you, your family, or whether or not you need that money. As long as they get your money, they will keep doing it. It's up to you to learn whether or not this opportunity isn't just some way for a lazy, deceitful person to pad their wallets with extra money. To avoid falling for both the older and newest work from home scams, here are some helpful tips:
- If someone promises that you can earn a ludicrous amount of money from home, don't believe them. You'll find that these offers say something like, 'Earn $3000 a week from home in your bunny slippers.' These are rip-offs, no matter how convincing they sound. Sure, you can make money from home. But like any other job, it takes work.
- Do your best to get some references. Get some opinions from people who took up the offer. Learn from them whether or not it works, and if they're satisfied.
- Beware the companies who only send out materials in exchange for your money, leaving you to hunt around for your own customers.
- Don't believe the 'envelope stuffing schemes.' That's one of the oldest tricks in the book as far as work from home scams go. All they give you for your money are instructions that tell you how to place an ad so that you too can take other people's money.
Most importantly, avoid these work from home scams by using your common sense. It's a very bad sign if the company doesn't let you speak with a real human being. Don't believe them if they won't give you a real address or phone number. Don't give your money to these dishonest people. Protect yourself and find the truth about scams.
