Top 3 Reasons People Accumulate So Much Debt
Credit card debt and other debts that are not secured such as personal loans, have turned into a major problem for the greater part of families in America . So many people have become to acclimated to just utilizing their plastic card to get whatever it is they want, whenever they want it, without really having the income to pay for it. Below I will list the top reasons that people end up becoming so indebted with credit card debt.
1. Buying Impulsively and Bad Spending Habits!
Buying on impulse demonstrates a lack of willpower. People will merely see an item in a shop and pay for it on their card, because they just can't wait to get whatever item it is they bought, with no regard as to whether they actually have the cash for it then or not. Credit cards feed into buying on impulse that is what the cards are there for to gratify our need for instant gratification. You know the old adage "patience is a virtue" if some people kept to that standard they would never accrue those massive debts.
Poor spending behaviors run along the same line as impulse buying. Some people just spoil themselves far to much in life. For example, somebody might go to a four star restaurant, and instead of buying a sandwich and chips, they order the prime rib, the pre meal appetizer or two, the happy hour special, and the dessert special. And of course charge it on their credit cards. Don't take me out of context every once in a while splurging isn't bad, but for some of us it is a everyday way of life. And these undisciplined spending behaviors can build up to a skyscraper of debt in a rather fast time period.
My Advice: Next time you are at a store, any type of store, and you are intending to make a purchase with your credit card. Think twice about the items you are about to buy and think to one's self 'Are these items necessary?' If you see yourself purchasing something that is more of a want then a true need then easily put it back on the shelf, and commit to yourself when you have "real money" not a credit card, to come back and buy that item for yourself without using your card. The essential point here is to establish the difference between wants and needs, your food is a need, your toothpaste is a need, the video game is a want, the brand new pair of boots are a want. A tune up for your automobile is a need, a turbocharger for your automobile is a want.
2. Accepting Too Many Credit Cards!
This is the next largest contributor to people getting into major debt problems. People plainly just can't refuse the credit card offers they receive. People get solicited in the mail saying your pre-approved and your credit limit is five thousand. For some people this is too much to take on and they will graciously accept every card and promptly charge on them.
My advice: Just throw these offers away! These offers are not necessary. Think of each one of these credit offers you get in the mail as a inevitable financial time bomb waiting to blow up. The only way to cut it off is by placing them promptly into the garbage. Learn to reject the new credit offers you do not need them, this cannot be stressed loudly enough.
3. Cash Advances!
This is a seriously large factor in people compiling up debt. It's to easy to go to the automatic teller machine and use cash against your card. Becoming very addicting to people and becomes a big reason why they accumulate so much debt.
My Advice: Stay away from cash advances. This really is almost the same as just paying on your card, you still pay interest and rack up debt.
